I was hoping that you could explain a little bit more detail where you find your fiberglass post that are seconds or that have defects so you can get them cheaper. Really appreciate your website and all of your information.

what is the bare minimum perimeter fencing you can you get away with? I don’t want to keep rounding up livestock like I used to growing up when my pops cattle would get out once a month. I’m thinking three strands high tensile with the middle being hot. Would this work until I get cash flow from the cattle to afford better fencing? Also what type and size electric fence charger do you suggest for a 10 to 30 acre pasture?

We like to use a minimum of 4 wires of electric high tensile fence wire. 6-8 joule charger would be about right. Stafix from Powerflex Fence Company is the best charger in the world. Tell them I sent you 🙂

Thank you for responding Mr. Judy. Just want to say how much I appreciate people like yourself, Allen, and Ian continuing to learn and pass on the knowledge to future farmers like myself. I’m from Western Kentucky so hopefully I’ll get to make it to one of your farm tours one of these days! Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

What is your favorite method to fence across streams and creeks?
Electric braided rope makes economical effective sheep gates that are easy to make yourself. They are very conductive and strong enough to withstand years of weather and heavy use.
